Vidagas Might Invest US$80 More in Colombia

La República informed that Vidagas, a subsidiary of the Chilean Group Gasco, is willing to invest other US$80 million in Colombia, a market which the company owns 22%. 

Peter Schmohl Becker, General Manager at Vidagas, explained to La República: “Vidagas is advancing with its expansion plans, which could include either acquiring other firms or making strategic alliances within the sector." 

Schimohl said, “One of the company’s objectives is to increase its participation of 35% to 40% in 2012 (…) We estimate that the company might invest US$80 million more for this purpose, which is the amount that has been assigned to its expansion during the first year of operation in Colombia. (…) the company’s income during this year is expected to be approximately of US$170,000 million." 

Schmohl concluded, “We are satisfied with the obtained goals in Colombia, now that we have more than a half million users, which makes us the largest company within the sector in the country. (…) [We estimate that in Colombia] there are approximately 3.2 million users (…), which are located mainly in zones far away from a natural gas supply.
