Colombian fruit will be exported to other countries by Coca-Cola Invest in Bogota mm/dd/aaaa: 08/16/2011 El Espectador, a Colombian newspaper, reported that Coca-Cola will give a boost to the Colombian fruit sector in other countries. The multinational will take samples of and information about mango, lulo and blackberry to more than fifty of its subsidiaries in fifty countries. This way, Coca-Cola’s most important partners in North America, Western Europe and Asia will soon be receiving fruit pulp cultivated in Cundinamarca, Antioquia, Valle del Cauca and Santander, thanks to the Coca-Cola brand and Proexport’s initiative to encourage exports. The President at Proexport, María Claudia Lacouture, explained to El Espectador, “We are trying to boost exotic fruits by increasing their sales in other countries with the Colombian name accompanying one of the most important brands in the world. This is why a sample of three juices will go to more than fifty subsidiaries of Coca-Cola. Marco Llinás, Public Affairs Manager at Coca-Cola Colombia, explained, “One of the main reasons considered when signing the alliance is that 45% of the fruits used for their products are Colombian.” He said, “There is great interest in the Colombian agribusiness and a large market to reach outside. This helps us understand how to connect both.” The newspaper concluded, “The samples describe the goodness of Colombian fruits in English and Spanish, the crop supply, the nutritional content and medicinal benefits that can be obtained while consumed. It also explains that this economic sector has 400,000 farmers already exporting to the Netherlands, Germany and the U.S.” Source: Invest in Bogota (mm/dd/aaaa: 08/16/2011) Read the article in El Espectador about Coca-Cola’s support to the fruit sector Learn about the fruit and vegetable sector in Bogota, Colombia Learn the reasons why you should invest in Bogota, Colombia Read about other investment news in Bogota, Colombia |
