Project  1. International Convention Center. 

The national government, the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota and Corferias will invest more than USD $125 million in the construction of the new Convention Center which will hold more than 4,000 people. This venue will be located on the actual parking lot of Corferias and will have more than 15 exhibition rooms and an area of 24,000 square meters.
 
Its proximity to the fair center (Corferias) and the development of other projects like a specialized hotel will make this Project a new hub specialized in these kinds of events. The new Convention Center will be ready in 2014, which will surely make Bogota a more attractive city.
 

Project  2.  Science and Technology Cluster - Maloka. 

Bogota has a theme park that is an epicenter for technologic and scientific innovation. This place is called Maloka and it opened in 1998, since then it has placed itself not just as a theme park but also as a knowledge center and an icon in the city. 
 
Looking forward to renewing itself and being internationally recognized, Maloka has a new project by which it will create a science, technology and innovation cluster. It will have a tax-free zone for knowledge and innovation which will set Maloka and Bogota as a benchmark in the region and will open a new space for businesses in this field.
 

Project 3. Bogota Audiovisual Market (BAM). 

This is the ideal opportunity for those who work in the film industry in Colombia to get in touch with new markets and promote their work. This project is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota and has had two editions (2010 and 2011). In its first edition, over 120 participants from all over the world involved in the film industry came to Bogota.
 
Members from the most important film enterprises in the world also came to Colombia: Disney Entertainment, Paramount Pictures Corporation, Parallel40 Sur, Goldcrest, Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation, Arte ZDF, Latino Films, Wild Bunch and Yari Film Group.
 

Project 4. FIFA Under-20 World Cup. 

This was the most important sporting event of 2011. The local government through the IDT (District’s Institute of Tourism) released a campaign to place the city and its brand worldwide. 
 

Project 5. Bogota, Host city. 

The District’s Institute of Tourism is leading a public-private alliance focused on making the city a better place to live and to visit. This project will be developed strongly during the second semester of 2011, by using strategies that will allow residents to serve as change promoters.  
 

Project 6. Bogotá International. 

This project is also being led by the District’s Institute of Tourism which is placing Bogota both nationally and internationally as one of the biggest Latin-American metropolises. The city It’s considered to be Colombia’s gateway; a very important cultural and business center, that hosts important fairs and conventions, offers the best opportunities in health and education, and provides, in terms of hospitality, sophisticated locations with all the international brands and standards.  
 

Project 7. Mundo Aventura Theme Park. 

Since 1998 the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota opened Mundo Aventura theme park which is located in the south of the city. The park has 13 hectares and has not just rides, but also Colombian parades, which make Mundo Aventura an ideal destination for residents and an innovative proposal for visitors getting to know the culture. 

8. Tourist strategy projects. 

 
City’s agenda: public-private alliance IDT-Go Magazine, universities, libraries, theaters, museums, authorities and embassies. This project unifies the city’s agenda as a marketing instrument to promote the city. 
“Alcaldía de la Villa”, “Fan Zone Bogotá –FIFA Under 20 World Cup Colombia 2011”: IDT, Gran Estación Mall, World Cup sponsors, FIFA and District’s Culture and general offices were part of this project.

Tourist security (theory and practical): IDT - UNICAFAM.
Tourist Master Plan: IDT, SDP, sectors involved. 
Corferias, Sustainable Tourist District: IDT, Externado University, Major of Teusaquillo, Corferias, Empresa de Acueducto (water works) and others. 
Ethic and responsible tourism: UNICEF, Renacer Foundation and IDT.
Accesible Tourism Network: IDT and 84 public, private, foundation and other kinds of organizations.
 

Project 9. Ibero-American Theater Festival of Bogota.

The Ibero-American Theater Festival of Bogota was created in 1988 by Fanny Mikey and has become a cultural icon of the city. For 2010’s edition 81 international theater companies with more than 1,200 artists arrived.
The event has different artistic expressions such as dance, theater, storytelling and sparing activities that make the Festival a unique experience. Different venues are used for the different shows, from traditional scenarios such as theater to bigger places such as the bullfight arena of the Santamaria and El Campin Coliseum. The Festival places the Bogota internationally as a tourist destination.
 

Project 10. International Art Fair of Bogota- ArtBo. 

The Chamber of Commerce of Bogota has been developing the International Art Fair of Bogota (ArtBo) since 2005. This year’s edition will take place in October and will have the most representative artistic manifestations from Latin America and all over the world.
 
2010’s edition had more than 1,000 art pieces, 52 galleries and 34 projects of new artists sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota. The event takes place in Corferias.
 

Project 11. Distrito Cinema. 

Distrito Cinema will be a Film Festival in Bogota which serves as a window for new trends and media: films, new stories, diverse screens, technology, games and discussion spaces.
 
The Festival will have a huge list of activities showing from action films to documentaries in different displays and streaming live from Bogota.
 

Project 12. Bogota Candidate to join the Creative Cities Network of UNESCO. 

60.5% of Bogota’s population comes from a different city and it makes Bogota’s cultural offering quite expansive. The city has different musical events that make it unique, such as the ‘At the Park’ festivals which satisfy all kinds of tastes (Rock, Folk, Opera, Salsa, Jazz and Hip-Hop).
 

Project 13. Placing Bogota and its Brand through Sebastian Saavedra’s participation in the IndyCar series.

Sebastian Saavedra is the youngest race car driver in the IndyCar series. Last year’s performance in Indylights took him to the biggest formula category in the United States. Saveedra made an alliance with the city in order to promote sports and social responsibility. Also, with his continuous success he will take the city brand to one of the most important and broadcasted car racing series in the world.
